Natural Disaster and Emergency Claim Information

Disaster Preparedness

The Government of Canada Emergency Preparedness Guide is a resource providing Canadians with detailed steps to be better prepared for emergencies. This guide includes a Family Emergency Plan template and list of emergency kit items.

Another resource is the London Drugs emergency information page, which provides additional information including pharmacy services during a natural disaster, evacuee registration information and assistance resources by province, preparedness information, and additional articles and information related to wildfires and flooding.

Disaster Financial Assistance for British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba

British Columbia
The EmergencyInfo BC page contains current advisories for the province of British Columbia. The Government of British Columbia website also includes a page for financial assistance in a disaster. After a disaster, the provincial government may declare the event eligible for Disaster Financial Assistance (DFA). Once declared, the DFA program may provide applicants with financial assistance to restore uninsured losses that are essential to a residence home, livelihood or community service. Find the full application process and details on this page.

Alberta
The Government of Alberta Emergency page includes updates on current provincial emergencies, as well as financial assistance and additional information. Depending on the type of emergency, this page also provides information for evacuees, financial and health supports, and further advisories and closures.

The Alberta Disaster Assistance and Recovery Support page includes an overview of the provincial Disaster Recovery Program (DRA) which is intended to assist with widespread events. Disaster financial assistance may be accessed after a municipality applies and is approved for a Disaster Recovery Program on behalf of their residents.

Saskatchewan
The Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency provides a list of Active Emergencies in the province. Residents can visit the Provincial Disaster Assistance Program page to find resources regarding eligibility and how to apply.

Manitoba
The Emergency Management Organization (EMO) page provides preparation resources outlooks, and links to current provincial alerts. Manitoba’s Disaster Financial Assistance (DFA) page includes FAQs, contact links and additional resources for municipalities, private residences, farms, small businesses, and non-profits.

Government of Canada
In addition to Disaster Financial Assistance for provinces, in the event of a large-scale natural disaster, the Government of Canada offers Disaster Financial Assistance Arrangements (DFAA). Our London Drugs Insurance representatives can help you to determine the availability of insurance coverage prior to these events, and support policyholders of Disaster Financial Assistance eligibility during the claims process.
